Jeremy Sherwood has spent 25 years working in the sporting goods industry – the last five as VP Global Sales and Marketing for the Head Sports Group and member of its Management Board. Head is the leading tennis brand in the world, as well as a top three ski and winter sport brand. In his role at Head, Jeremy was responsible for driving group strategy, achieving global distribution goals, bringing to the group new initiatives and ways of doing business ,as well as managing 12 subsidiaries around the world.
Prior to joining Head in 2002, Jeremy worked for leading global brands such as Wilson Sporting Goods, adidas and the Benetton Sports System Group where he was based in northern Italy for five years.
Between 1998 and 2002 Jeremy ran his own sports company which held the sole distribution rights for the UK for brands including Prince, Rollerblade, Nordica and Killer Loop.
Today, in partnership with his wife, Jeremy owns Fitzsimmons Place Nursery School in Guildford, the fourth largest independent single site children day care centre in the UK and also owns Hanjen Holdings, which focuses on acquiring commercial buildings.
Jeremy’s passion is sport – he regularly participates in golf, tennis and skiing - and is a keen follower of the England and British Lions rugby teams. He retired from corporate work in the spring of 2012 to be, in his words “in control of his life and to fulfil a number of aspirations and goals and to be in a position give something back to a world of sport from which he has benefited so much.”
John is a former international tennis professional, reaching number 98 in the world in 1973. He represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup from 1977 to 1983.
His 13-year career on the ATP Tour included two memorable highlights. He held the record for the most aces served in a single Wimbledon match from 1976 to 1997, while he also achieved the remarkable distinction of beating five-times Wimbledon champion Bjorn Borg twice in a week at the Beckenham grass court tournament in the mid-1970s.
John has served on the main Board and as Director of Communications and Sponsorship for The Lawn Tennis Association. He has been on the Committee of The Wimbledon Championships and Head of Player Relations for the Championships. He has also served on the European Boards of the WTA and ATP global Tours.
Away from tennis, he has been acting CEO of The Lords Taverners cricketing charity and Sponsorship Director for The Lord Mayor of London. He was a co-founder and a Director of The National Enterprise Academy for the Peter Jones Foundation.
Annette Court served as the Chief Executive Officer of Europe General Insurance at Zurich Financial Services from March 1, 2007 to July 1, 2010 and also served as a Member of its Group Management Board.
Annette graduated from Oxford University with an Honours Degree in Engineering Science.
She started her career in 1983 with IBM working in various positions in systems engineering and then onto client management in the banking and insurance sectors.
She joined Direct Line in 1994 and subsequently became CEO in 2001 and a member of the RBS Group Executive Committee. After the successful acquisition of Churchill in 2003, she became the CEO of RBS Insurance, the second largest General Insurer in the UK.
Annette has served on various boards and as a Member of the Board of the Association of British Insurers. She is currently a non-executive director on the board of Admiral Insurance Group and also Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group. In addition, she is business mentor for Merryck & Co.
Amongst her varied interests, she loves sport and is particularly passionate about tennis.
Martin Goldsmith is the founding owner of Event Merchandising, a private company formed in 1982 that has been involved with some the world’s most iconic events. Event Merchandising works in partnership with several world-recognised brands and events, ranging from blue-chip corporate requirements to selling at live events, from devising licensing programmes to running online shops.
Under Martin’s stewardship Event Merchandising has developed a reputation for working as merchandiser and sponsorship agent to globally recognised events. These include the Three Tenors and Luciano Pavarotti, the seven same-day world-wide Live Earth concerts, and the Princes Trust and Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. The company also has extensive experience in organising tours for A-list music acts, including Duran Duran, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Katherine Jenkins, Diana Ross and many more, and holds licences for some of the UK’s biggest television shows, including Big Brother, Channel 4’s T4 on the Beach, and Davis Cup and ATP Tour tennis.
In addition, Event Merchandising has an in-house sponsorship and sampling agency, and advertising team, and acts as the agent for TNA Wrestling, the world’s fastest-growing family entertainment company.
Event Merchandising holds an official licence for London 2012 merchandise, running six stores, and will be managing the on-the-road sales during the Olympic Torch Relay.
Dan is a partner at AgFe, a fixed income structured finance advisory firm in London. Previously he was fixed income product specialist at Henderson Global Investors and prior to joining Henderson Dan spent 20 years at Morgan Stanley in fixed income sales in New York and in London.
Dan has a BA in Political Science from Williams College and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University.
He is married with three teenage children and lives with his family in Wimbledon. A keen sports enthusiast and an RFU rugby coach and referee, Dan is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
