Friday, 21 July 2017 - 10:00am to Monday, 24 July 2017 - 6:00pm

The 2017 StreetGames Summer Camp is going to take place near London and is linked to the World Para Athletics Championships that are taking place at the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park.

The four day Summer Camp will take place at Phasels Wood Campsite, near Watford, from Friday 21st July to Monday 24th July.  The Camp will include….

  • Tickets to watch the World Para Athletics Championships
  • Travel into the event (from the campsite)
  • Activities on the campsite including sport, outdoor activities and lots of fun stuff devised by StreetGames Young Advisors
  • All meals for the duration of camp
  • Accommodation will be in tents for all young people and staff visiting the summer camp. All tents will be set up ready for your arrival.  We will have rooms available for young people and staff with access issues who are unable to stay in tents.

Who is the Camp for?

The Summer Camp is for any StreetGames organisation in the network.  We ask organisations to use their discretion when deciding who to bring but we are asking that young people be at least 16 years old or in their final year of high school (so 15 year olds whose birthday is in late July or August 2017). We would like to work on a ratio of one staff member to - at most - six young people.  We usually work 1:4 so you can get five in one car!

What is the cost?

The cost will be a maximum of £125 per person, plus your travel to the campsite. We are not expecting that any young person coming to the camp pays for their own place.  We are hoping that organisations will fundraise for their Summer Camp places and  we will help your organisation with this.

Support will include…

  • Fundraising ideas, hints and tips
  • A list of sources and grants to apply to
  • Template letters and bids for small grant applications for places.
  • As always we will be working on larger applications and sponsorship for the summer camp.  If we secure this will reduce the cost of places at summer camp.  This will either mean: You won’t have to fundraise as much

Any extra funds you do generate can go towards travel or extras for young people in the summer camp experience (in the past people have bought camp hoodies, extra trips etc.)
We also know that some projects may just want to pay for places outright and this will be fine.

How To Book your Place
We have approximately 400 places available at the Summer Camp.  This year we will be using a new deposit scheme for organisations to book their place.
What we ask you to do is follow the link below to the StreetGames booking system.

At this point we need the following information:
Organisation Name
Organisation Contact Details
Staff Member dealing with the booking and their contact details
Number of young people and Staff places (names and other details will be required nearer the camp)

Once you complete the booking form you will then be sent an invoice from StreetGames for your places.  To confirm your place we are asking for organisations to pay a minimum (non-refundable) deposit of £20 per person. The invoice will be for the total amount for the Camp – so there is an option to pay the full amount up front.

Deadline for booking

The booking process will close on the 5th May 2017.  The final balance of £105 per person must be paid by 31st May 2017 in order to secure the place.

Further information on Summer Camp will be shared over the next few weeks. After the booking deadline closes we will be sending out information to visiting staff members about the Camp with a booklet containing all of the relevant information.

If you need access to risk assessments or other documentation in order to deal with your internal processes for taking young people away on residential visits, then please let us know.
