Kelly Jones completed the gruelling Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 in aid of StreetGames in under four hours - a phenomenal achievement.

Prior to running the 26 mile route Kelly, from StreetGames Swindon,  said: “This charity means so much to me, friends and work colleagues. This will be an extremely tough challenge for a volleyball player, but seeing how this charity changes the lives of so many young people the pain will all be worth it!”

The royals, who were making their first official visit to Wales since announcing their recent engagement, were invited to attend a session of StreetGames’ award-winning Doorstep Sport and Us Girls Wales programmes.

The event, which took place at the STAR Hub centre in Tremorfa this Thursday, saw the couple engaging with tutors, volunteers and participants for well over an hour, during which time they also observed a wide range of activities, including table tennis and a group dance routine.

The StreetGames CEO has been speaking to the newspaper ahead of this week’s royal visit, which will see Prince Harry and fiancé Meghan Markle attending a StreetGames sport session in Cardiff. The newly-engaged couple will be on hand to observe some of the wonderful work being done on behalf of young people in the area, both through the pioneering Doorstep Sport programme, as well as its female-focused sister project ‘Us Girls Wales’, which recently picked up a prestigious Sport Wales award!

The ParkLives with StreetGames programme continues to go from strength to strength, delivering fun-filled activities in accessible public spaces - and you can now get involved in our 2018 events! We're currently on the lookout for 24 organisations to join next year's programme, running from April 2018 for 16 to 20 weeks. The events, which are aimed at giving disadvantaged 8-25-year-olds the encouragement they need to make use of local parks, features all manner of sports and physical activities designed to promote both personal and community wellbeing.

The qualification is designed to prepare learners to deliver independent Skateboard coaching sessions. The course introduces learners to the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching skateboard sessions. This includes developing their skills and knowledge of their role and responsibilities as a coach, the principles of planning, delivering and evaluating safe coaching sessions and the technical aspects of coaching basic beginners skateboarding.
