Sarah Davies, is a young women who is breaking the stereotypes of female weightlifters and bringing a touch of glamour to the platform.The 21-year old PE teacher from Leeds is taking the weightlifting world by storm having recently qualified to represent England at the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014. Sarah also manages to compete in beauty pageants holding the title of Miss Leeds - proving that strength and fitness is a powerful combination. Initially training as a gymnast her boyfriend (GB Weightlifter Jack Oliver) persuaded her to go down the gym and try some weights, Sarah was immediately hooked and hasn’t looked back.

Greatest Achievement: Lifting for England in the Home Nations after only a year of competing

Aspirations: To medal at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and to compete in Rio 2016

Training Regime: 5 weightlifting sessions and 2 strength and conditioning sessions a week.

Who has been greatest influence on you?: Jack Oliver, because I wouldn’t even be a weightlifter if it wasn’t for him!!!

When did you begin lifting?: August 2011

Why did you begin lifting?: Was at Europa watching Jack train and decided to try, after snatching 30kg and clean and jerking 40kg, I decided to give it a proper go!
