Ken is Resident of the Year
Hard work, commitment and a passion for working with young people. These were just a few of the reasons given by the Hastings Achievers Awards 2012 judging panel for deciding to award StreetGames Hastings project leader Ken Dullaway with its marquee honour of Resident of the Year.

Ken has been helping young people find fulfilment through sport in the twin resorts of Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea for the past quarter of a century and this work has seen Ken become a well-known figure in the local community. Since 2007 he has run the StreetGames project for Hastings Borough Council and the initiative now also boasts an Us Girls project.
Ken collected his award on Wednesday (10th October) evening at the ceremony at Sussex Coast College in Hastings.
Of receiving the honour, Ken said: “I am surprised but proud to have won the award. What I achieved wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my team so I would like to dedicate the award to my team and volunteers that make things happen under my guidance.”
Jane Ashworth, StreetGames Chief Executive, said of Ken: “StreetGames is delighted that one of the heroes of doorstep sport in the South East has been officially recognised by his community. Ken’s Resident of the Year award is just reward for his unstinting work and will sit nicely with his Outstanding Contribution to Doorstep Sport award, which we presented to him at our annual awards earlier this year. We are confident that he will continue to use sport to make a difference in young people’s lives for years to come.
