StreetGames was proud to team up with Comic Relief and community organisation Pro Touch SA to help launch the 40th Anniversary Comic Relief campaign at Tufnell Park School in Islington.
The special event, held on 29th January 2025, showcased the power of community sport and engagement in creating brighter futures for young people.
The event was featured live on BBC Breakfast, with comedian Sara Pascoe making a special appearance to bring some extra fun and energy to the morning. Children attending the Breakfast Club, supported by Comic Relief funding, had the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities, including dodgeball, arts and crafts, and even some cake decorating.
The breakfast club is part of a wider initiative to provide safe, supportive, and fun environments for young people in underserved communities, ensuring they start their day with a healthy meal and engaging activities that promote well-being.
A Milestone Year for Comic Relief
The launch of Red Nose Day 2025 marks the start of an exciting milestone year for Comic Relief, as the charity celebrates its 40th birthday. Since its inception in 1985, Comic Relief has been using the power of solidarity and silliness to tackle some of the most urgent problems faced by people in the UK and worldwide.
Over the past 40 years, communities, schools, workplaces, and families have come together to raise over £1.6 billion, helping to support over 100 million people. Thanks to this incredible generosity, Comic Relief has worked with organisations that provide food, essential healthcare, and safe shelter to those who need it most.
But as the world evolves, so do the challenges people face. With so many individuals and families experiencing difficult times, this year’s Red Nose Day is more important than ever. It’s a chance for people to come together, spread joy, and raise vital funds to help those forced to make impossible choices every day. The need for life-changing support is just as urgent today as it was in 1985.
A Celebration of Community and Sport
The event at Tufnell Park School highlighted the importance of local organisations like Pro Touch SA in delivering impactful community programmes. By joining forces, StreetGames, Comic Relief, and Pro Touch are making sure young people have the chance to feel inspired, build connections, and grow in confidence.
Speaking at the event, James Gregory, StreetGames Area Director for London & South East, said:
“Comic Relief funding enables us to support community organisations in helping young people stay active through sport while also enjoying a healthy breakfast—giving them the best possible start to their day.
“It’s fantastic to see the impact of initiatives like this breakfast club, which not only provide essential support but also bring joy and energy to young people’s mornings. We’re proud to work alongside Comic Relief and Pro Touch to celebrate 40 years of Comic Relief and continue making a real difference in communities.”
