Where you live and grow up determines your access to sport.  It’s true, but is it fair?  Is sport a ‘nice to have’, available to those who have the time, money and inclination?  Or does everyone have a right to sport, whatever their circumstances?

Those are the questions at the heart of this year’s conference.  Don’t miss the debate!

The evidence is stacking up: locally trusted organisations, providing positive activity in their neighbourhoods, are increasingly recognised as the most important players when it comes to tackling inequalities.  Building on what a community already has and what it’s good at (its ‘assets’), coaches, leaders and volunteers are bringing new hope and increasing activity levels in left-behind neighbourhoods.

Day One of this year’s conference sees expert keynote speakers and themed workshops exploring different aspects of place-based working, identifying how collaboration between local people and locally trusted organisations improves the safety, wellbeing and future prospects of disadvantaged young people and communities.  Packed with practical examples, take-home tips and time to network, you won’t want to miss it.

Day Two is devoted to Community Safety.  The Youth Crime Prevention and Sport Conference; brings together expert teams from the youth justice and community sport sectors to share their latest research into sport's role in tackling youth offending and anti-social behaviour. You will hear about successful strategies, talk to leading figures and pick up a whole host of new ideas to adapt and employ in your work.
