Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic individual with a passion for developing the knowledge and skills of young people. This rewarding role will allow you to cover two key work areas for StreetGames Training Academy.

The Apprenticeship and Training Academy Tutor must hold a recognised teaching qualification or Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent and will contribute to the development and delivery of two of StreetGames workforce and employability programmes.

For two days per week, the post holder will perform the duties of an Apprenticeship tutor and will be responsible for the delivery of high quality teaching, learning and assessment of the training delivered as part of the StreetGames Apprenticeship programme.

The Apprenticeship part of the role will involve delivering a mix of StreetGames Training Academy workshops and accredited courses, with the goal being to ensure that learners gain the new knowledge and skills required to pass their functional skills tests and are ultimately successful in obtaining their apprenticeship qualification in a timely manner.

The Apprenticeship Tutor will work closely with the apprenticeship mentor to ensure that each apprentice is fully supported throughout their training. This element of the role could be offered as a part time role if desirable (0.4 FTE).

For three days per week, the post holder will perform the duties of a Training Academy Tutor. This element of the role could also be offered as a part time role if desirable (0.6 FTE) This will include conducting training needs analysis with StreetMarked organisations and clusters, developing a calendar of training to meet their needs and working with other tutors in the area to deliver courses and workshops.

For both work areas, the tutor is required to deliver a range of the StreetGames Training Academy’s accredited & non-accredited workshops and qualifications. Tutors will be required to deliver in a range of classroom and sporting settings within disadvantaged communities, and to learners with a range of previous educational experiences. Tutors will tailor delivery to the individual needs of each group of learners, using their knowledge of teaching, coaching & learning styles to create an environment which removes potential barriers to learning.

The post holder will require a blend of interpersonal skills, youth work and sport specific knowledge and will be responsible for sharing best practice for engaging, supporting and developing the sporting and personal skills of young people in disadvantaged areas through apprenticeship delivery and Training Academy courses and workshops.
