Level 1 Health Improvement

Course duration: 6 hours
Minimum age: 14

This entry-level course provides an introduction to health in its broadest sense.

The award covers:

  • The meaning of positive health
  • Basic principles of public health
  • Understanding lifestyle choices affecting personal health and well-being
  • Managing personal health collaboratively with service providers

Holders of this qualification will have a basic awareness of the principles of health and the impact on their health of the lifestyle choices they make. They will also be prepared to take responsibility for their personal health and work actively with health service providers to manage their own care and that of others and will be enabled to actively contribute towards more effective health service provision.

The course is delivered over one day and learners complete a workbook for assessment.

Who is it for? Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers.

Pre-requisites: There are no compulsory pre-requisites for this course. It offers the chance to build on skills previously gained through courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and 3 awards; national governing bodies of sport awards; and youth and community qualifications.

If booking a whole course, this course requires a minimum of 12 learners and can support a maximum of 16 learners.
