We exist because of a fundamental inequality.
Sport is powerful: it empowers young people and gives them the opportunity to transform their lives, but those growing up in low-income and under-served communities often face serious barriers that prevent them from taking part in sport.
These barriers include:
- Lack of local facilities or safe spaces.
- Cost and travel barriers.
- Confidence and wellbeing challenges.

How we work
Since 2007, StreetGames have been working with community partners across the country to remove barriers and bring opportunities directly to young people’s doorsteps. We deliver positive change using a tried-and-tested methodology called Doorstep Sport – built on years of experience of what works when it comes to engaging young people living in under-served communities.
- It’s local, accessible, and youth-led, offering safe spaces to be active, connect, and belong.
- Sessions are free or low-cost, designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and fun.
- Doorstep Sport isn’t just about playing games, it’s about building confidence, friendships, and brighter futures.
From a local idea to a national force for change
- We have over 18 years of experience supporting local sport and physical activity.
- Our network of 1,600 community partners reaches 217 of the UK’s 317 local authorities.
- Working with our community partners, we supported 400,000 young people in 2024 alone.
- Our partnerships shape national policy around the use of sport to transform young lives.
People & Partnerships – The Heart of Our Story
StreetGames doesn’t just fund sport – we support, connect, and champion the community organisations that make it happen.
- Our network includes local charities, youth clubs, councils, housing associations, and national partners, all working together to make sport accessible for everyone.
- Collaboration is our power: by linking local delivery with national insight and policy, we drive lasting change.
Our Vision
At StreetGames, we know the power sport has to transform life chances and we’ll fight tooth and claw until every young person gets the opportunities they deserve.
We work tirelessly with our partners in pursuit of our vision: healthier, safer, more successful communities through sport.
We will have achieved our vision when:
- All young people from low-income, under-served communities can engage in life-enhancing Doorstep Sport.
- There is a year-round, multisport offer available in every low-income, under-served community.
