Working for Change: Widening Access Together

We are experts in youth participation from low-income and underserved communities. We work with national sports organisations, helping them think differently about the young people we support, those who face barriers like cost, no access to facilities, or a lack of local opportunities.

We act as a catalyst for sports bodies, supporting them to develop and to encourage new, more accessible ways of delivering sport in the heart of the communities that need it most. Together, we can change practices to meet the needs of all young people

Our Approach: StreetGames & National Governing Bodies

We partner with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) who have a desire to develop their sport to meet the needs of young people from low-income, underserved communities.

The Goal: All mainstream sports providers change their practice to meet the needs of young people from low-income, underserved communities.

The starting point is often an NGB self-reflection analysis on how their sport currently meets the needs of these young people.

Our collaborative model focuses on six interconnected areas help understand how together we can create pathways to change:

Focus Area
The Voice of Young People in Low-Income Communities

Outcome
Understanding how to engage with and support young people to develop offers, programmes, and products to meet their needs.

Focus Area
Connecting in Communities

Outcome
Connecting to communities via the StreetGames Place Teams and Place-Based Working.

Focus Area
Data, Insight & Planning

Outcome
Understanding terminology, data, sources, and StreetGames insight to drive organisational impact and change.

Focus Area
Developing Your Internal Workforce

Outcome
Supporting people in your sport to better understand the needs, barriers, and challenges facing young people from low-income, under-served communities.

Focus Area
Developing Coaches, Leaders & Volunteers in Your Sport

Outcome
Reviewing and shaping how your delivery workforce engages and supports young people from low-income, under-served communities.

Focus Area
Connecting with Other Sport & Non-Sport Partners

Outcome
Connecting and convening other sports. Developing a better understanding of working with non-sport partners.

Mutual Value: Opening Up Your Sport

Working together we will clearly identify the challenges that matter to you the most. Using a supportive partnership approach we will identify a clear action plan together. This could  include a refresh of activator training, training programmes for your workforce or place based test and learn pilots co-designed by young people. We will work at the pace that is right for your sport but at all times putting the needs and desires of young people from under-served communities at the heart of our thinking.
