Bring it on Brum! is the largest Holiday Activities and Food programme in England, working to tackle holiday hunger, physical inactivity, social isolation and learning loss among some of Birmingham’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Working in partnership with Birmingham City Council, StreetGames will continue to design, develop, coordinate and evaluate the programme, ensuring it delivers meaningful outcomes while keeping the needs of children, young people and families from low-income communities at the heart of its approach.
Since the launch of Bring it on Brum! in 2021, the programme has delivered significant impact across the city. More than 275,000 children and young people have attended holiday clubs at no additional cost to their families, with over 1.5 million healthy, nutritious meals provided through the programme. During this time, more than 2,500 holiday clubs have been delivered across Birmingham, working alongside over 500 local providers to create high-quality opportunities for young people.
As a national charity committed to supporting children and young people living in under-served communities, StreetGames has worked closely with Birmingham City Council and local delivery partners to ensure that the programme reaches those who need it most while creating lasting benefits for communities across the city.
Alongside the core HAF offer, StreetGames has further enhanced opportunities for young people through its extensive sport and physical activity network. Since 2021, more than 18,000 young people have been given the opportunity to try a new sport, while over £105,750 has been invested in equipment and resources to strengthen local community provision.
Jenny Carter, Place Director Birmingham and Holiday Activities & Food Programme Director at StreetGames, said:
“We are delighted to continue working with Birmingham City Council and partners across the city to deliver Bring it on Brum! until 2029.
“The programme has become a vital part of the school holidays for thousands of families, creating opportunities for children and young people to stay active, make friends, try new experiences and access healthy food in a safe and welcoming environment.
“This contract award is a testament to the strength of the partnerships we’ve built across Birmingham. The dedication and passion of local organisations, providers and community leaders have been at the heart of everything we’ve achieved together.
“As we look ahead, we’re excited to build on those foundations, continuing to innovate, strengthen local provision and ensure even more children and young people can benefit from high-quality holiday experiences.”
Under the new contract, StreetGames will continue to work alongside Birmingham City Council and local partners to coordinate the delivery of Bring it on Brum!, providing support, training, quality assurance and partnership development to help ensure children and young people across Birmingham can access high-quality holiday provision.
The renewed partnership will build on four years of successful delivery and continued investment in Birmingham’s communities, helping more children and young people stay active, enjoy healthy meals, develop new skills and create lasting memories during the school holidays
