With season two of the viral Baller League UK having reached its highly anticipated conclusion this month, we’ve been reflecting on our engagement with the competition and what it means for the young people we support.

Back in December, we distributed 185 tickets to eight of our Community Partners through our Inspiration campaign, giving their young people the opportunity to attend two nights of amazing Baller League action at London’s Copper Box Arena.

Baller League UK is redefining small sided, indoor football. Fast-paced six-a-side action, innovative rule twists, and iconic names like KSI leading the charge, make every match unpredictable and thrilling. It’s football with a fresh edge: dynamic, entertaining, and built for a young, interactive audience.

As well as watching their favourite teams in action, the young people attending the event had the chance to meet players and YouTubers – with some even enjoying a shout out on the big screen to add to their excitement.

At StreetGames, we promote the use of our Doorstep Sport methodology as a tool to engage young people from communities across the UK in sport and physical activity. Doorstep Sport is centred around the ‘five rights’: sport delivered at the right time, place and price, in the right style and by the right people. Baller League is a great example of the latter two elements in particular, with the right style and right people (in this case, the audience) critical to the runaway success of the format.

Sport delivered in the right way is a powerful tool for engagement. Major sporting events like this have a pivotal role to play in helping young people think about and consume sport differently – allowing it to reach new audiences, change perceptions and improve lives.
