After the successful launch of our updated brand last year, marking a renewed commitment to young people and the communities we serve, #UpMyStreet reinforces StreetGames’ core mission: changing young people’s lives through sport.
At the heart of the #UpMyStreet campaign are conversations with young people from our network of community partners across the country, who’ve shared the incredible ways sport and physical activity have helped them: finding safer places to spend time, building stronger relationships, improving their mental and physical wellbeing and discovering new opportunities for education, training and employment. For some, the benefits have transformed their futures.
We’re using #UpMyStreet to celebrate what’s working, amplify young people’s voices and inspire more people to support community sport — because creating lasting change requires all of us, from local organisations and sports bodies to funders, policymakers and supporters. Together, we can ensure that every young person has the opportunity to take part, belong and fulfil their potential.
Ibrahim’s story
Ibrahim’s story shows exactly why our work matters. Through basketball, he found more than a place to play sport; he discovered confidence in himself, developed leadership skills and built relationships that have helped shape the person he is today.
Ibrahim’s story is a reminder that when young people have access to the right opportunities, supported by trusted adults and organisations in their community, the impact can be profound. What might look like a simple basketball session from the outside can become a turning point in a young person’s life.
“Ibrahim’s experience reflects the stories we hear every day across the StreetGames network, and we’re delighted to be sharing it with a wider audience through the #UpMyStreet campaign. I hope that when watching the videos, our network, partners and supporters feel proud to be playing their part in opening up the opportunities that the young people featured so clearly value, and to be helping to ensure that their voices are listened to at every level.” – Mark Lawrie OBE, StreetGames CEO
