The People Powering the Potential

Behind every life transformed is a great team. Our board, trustees, and senior leadership bring decades of expertise, passion, and strategic vision to ensure our work is evidence-led and community-focused.

They are the champions who ensure our funding, resources, and advocacy consistently deliver real, measurable change. We’re proud to introduce the people who stand with our community partners and speak up for young people.

Our Leadership & Governance

We believe that strong, transparent leadership is essential to deliver a mission as vital as ours.

Vice Presidents

Jane Ashworth

Background of involvement with StreetGames… I’ve been involved with StreetGames from the very start, and was the chief executive from 2005 to 2019.

Favourite thing about working with StreetGames… The trust shared amongst the leadership, right through to the community organisations in our network is unusual and generated by the commitment to our shared mission.

John Dwan

Background of involvement with StreetGames… Whist working as the Sport Action Zone manager in East Manchester before, during and post the 2022 Commonwealth Games, I was one of the ‘originals’ that developed the StreetGames ideology and the charity. I held a variety of positions while working for StreetGames, including company secretary and NW regional manager.

Favourite thing about working with StreetGames… The charity’s long standing ethos and the mantra of offering projects at the right time, in the right place, and for the right price to suit the needs of young participants.

Professor Emeritus Steve Hodkinson

Background of involvement with StreetGames… I joined the Board in 2007, becoming Vice-Chair, Chair and then Vice-President.

Favourite thing about working with StreetGames… I devoted my working life to helping young people to recognise and develop their talents through education. In retirement, StreetGames’ mission, values and team ethos have given me the opportunity to play a small part in opening life chances for wonderful young people living in under-served communities.

Norman Turner

Background of involvement with StreetGames… Inaugural Chair of StreetGames. My public sector career focused mainly on the sporting, social regeneration and cultural sectors in England and Scotland. I served as Chair of CLOA and various other national groups and was a Special Advisor to local authority organisations and national agencies.

Favourite thing about working with StreetGames… Finding new and imaginative ways of service delivery whilst maintaining the fundamental core values of the charity. The commitment and exuberance that flows throughout the StreetGames family.

Su Cumming

Background of involvement with StreetGames… I have been involved with StreetGames since the beginning, working with others to establish the charity and then develop the network in my local area. My passion has always been helping disadvantaged young people and families to have fair access to services, and using the power of sport and physical activity to help people on their journey.

Favourite thing about working with StreetGames… Working with like-minded, motivated people who want to make a difference to young people’s lives. It’s so rewarding to see the differences the work makes.

Board of Directors & Trustees

Our Board and Trustees provide strategic direction, robust governance, and accountability, guiding StreetGames’ mission to change young people’s lives through sport. They safeguard our financial health and enable us to create lasting impact in the communities we serve.

Nigel Harrison

Chair

StreetGames trustee since… 2025

Why I’m here: Having worked with StreetGames colleagues in Yorkshire for many years it has been clear we shared the same purpose of ensuring sport can play its part in young people’s lives. It was a no-brainer to see if I could add value to the work by joining the Board.

Monique Wheatle

Welfare & Safeguarding Lead

StreetGames trustee since… 2024

Why I’m here: When I saw the vacancy with the StreetGames board, I knew I had to apply. Engagement in sport is important for young peoples health, but also integral to their development and wellbeing. As a doctor with a special interest in public health, I understand the importance of the work of StreetGames and I wanted to draw on my lived and professional experience to make a difference as a trustee.

Jackie Bryson

StreetGames trustee since… 2019

Why I’m here: I’ve always been an admirer of the charity and what it stands for. The opportunity to play a small part in shaping its future was too good an opportunity to miss.

Dominic Haddock

StreetGames trustee since… 2019

Why I’m here: I love sport and know first-hand what a transformational effect it can have on us, physically and psychologically. When I heard about StreetGames’ brilliant work, I wanted to support the team to continue to make a difference to many thousands of young people’s lives, through the power of sport.

Mark Cornelius

StreetGames trustee since… 2021

Why I’m here: I joined StreetGames to help secure better lives for young people. I am a great believer in the beneficial power of sport. If we do not exploit that power in order to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, we could witness irreparable damage to individuals and society.

Mark Osikoya

StreetGames trustee since… 2021

Why I’m here: I worked for Coca-Cola during the London 2012 Olympic Games and helped create the partnership they had with StreetGames back then, which in turn enabled me to see how the organisation used the power of sport to transform lives and act as a positive social influence in local communities. When the opportunity came up 10 years later to get involved again with StreetGames, I jumped at it!

Maccs Pescatore

StreetGames trustee since… 2021

Why I’m here: Being a lover of the hills and mountains, I know the therapeutic, inspirational, educational and fun experiences that being out there gives you. Through Doorstep Sport, young people can experience similar things, enriching their lives and inspiring them to step into spaces they might not otherwise have thought possible.

Victoria Hill

StreetGames trustee since… 2021

Why I’m here: I became a trustee for StreetGames because I believe that all young people should have the opportunity to access the benefits of taking part in or watching sport.

Alex Trickett

StreetGames trustee since… 2024

Why I’m here: Sport has given me so much from childhood and throughout my career. By supporting StreetGames, I hope that I can, in some small way, help to unlock the power of sport for youngsters around the UK.

Gill Hammond

StreetGames trustee since… 2024

Jem Davis

StreetGames trustee since… 2025

Why I’m here: I’ve always believed in the unifying and wellbeing impact of sport. All young people, regardless of background, should have equal access to sport. The fact that this runs through the DNA of StreetGames inspired me to become a part of their story.

Senior Leadership Team

This team drives the daily operations and strategic delivery of our work, ensuring we invest locally, back community partners, and champion young voices.

Mark Lawrie OBE

CEO

With StreetGames since… 2013

As Chief Executive, I lead the StreetGames Executive team and support them as we collectively deliver our mission and work towards our vision for children and young people. I work closely with our Board Chair to ensure that we are well-governed and get the best from our talented and committed trustees. I enjoy my role advocating for our work with partners, funders and other stakeholders.

Why I’m here: The people who work for the organisation and with us in local neighbourhoods, and their passion and commitment to making a difference for children and young people from low-income areas through sport. It’s great to be surrounded by people who have such a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Hannah Crane

National Development Director

With StreetGames since… 2011

I lead the development and delivery of sector-leading workforce, volunteering and youth voice support for community partners, positioning StreetGames as the partner of choice within the sport and youth sectors in these areas.

Why I’m here: There weren’t many chances to play sport where I grew up, and certainly not a lot that was ‘for me’. Trusted adults changed my life when I was a teenager. I believe in the potential of young people to shape their lives and their communities for the best – I’m here to help enable them to do that.

Stuart Felce

Director of Strategic Business Relationships

With StreetGames since… 2015

I focus on building partnerships and evidence to demonstrate how sport and physical activity can be used to prevent young people entering the criminal justice system. I do this by forging regional and national connections with criminal justice stakeholders including the Ministry of Justice, Police and Crime Commissioners and Violence Reduction Units.

Why I’m here: I love the people I work with, and how we go about our business! Everyone at StreetGames refuses to accept the inequality that exists for those under-served, underrepresented communities and young people, when it comes to accessing sport and physical activity. That collective drive to challenge this “norm” is very motivating.

Paul Roberts

Director of Sport and Place

With StreetGames since… 2011

I work closely with and support StreetGames’ Area Directors and the regional teams and StreetGames’ Director of Innovation, across the UK. My role also oversees much of the charity’s operational and people planning.

Why I’m here: 2 things: 1 – I love that we provide opportunities to make sport and physical activity more accessible for young people, and 2 – The people! I love working with like-minded people at StreetGames and with our network of partners.

Ceris Anderson

Head of Knowledge & Insight

With StreetGames since… 2010

I lead the Research & Insight Team here at StreetGames. Our work broadly spans three key areas:
1. Undertaking research to help deepen understanding of the lives and needs of young people from low-income communities and ‘what works’ to increase activity levels.
2. Capturing data and evidence to help demonstrate the impact of our work
3. Gathering and sharing learning.

Why I’m here: I really enjoy hearing from young people and community partners in the network about their Doorstep Sport sessions and how much they enjoy taking part in sport, meeting up with friends and gaining new skills and experiences.

Jackie Snell

Director of Fundraising, Engagement & Communications

With StreetGames since… 2024

I’m responsible for shaping our brand and storytelling, raising young people’s voices, and driving change through campaigns, media and advocacy. I also lead our fundraising strategy, diversifying and growing income so we can reach more young people.

Why I’m here: I’m here because young people deserve the same chances, wherever they grow up.  Sport has shaped my whole life and I know the power it has to improve people’s lives. I want to use my experience to help us tell that story brilliantly and make sure we have the influence and funding to create real, lasting change.

Iffat Khan

Director of Finance and Resources

With StreetGames since… 2025

As Director of Finance and Resources, I lead the strategic direction of several core functions at StreetGames, including Finance, IT, HR, and Governance. I work closely with my team to ensure the charity remains financially resilient and well-resourced, enabling us to deliver on our mission and create lasting impact for the communities we serve.

Why I’m here: I’m fortunate to work alongside incredible colleagues, and I deeply admire what StreetGames stands for and the meaningful work it does within communities. Although I’ve held senior finance roles for many years, this is my first position in the charity sector, and it’s genuinely refreshing to see the positive, if indirect, impact my work has on society.

Claire Lane

Director of Internal Development and Culture

With StreetGames since… 2012

As Director of Internal Development and Culture, I lead initiatives that enhance wellbeing, EDI, safeguarding, sustainability, and internal systems. I connect teams, solve problems, and foster continuous learning. By listening to staff and implementing new ideas, I help ensure StreetGames is a positive, effective, and collaborative place to work.

Why I’m here: The people I work with and the amazing network that we work with locally.
