Our Policies & Procedures
StreetGames and its Delivery Chain
This document defines the elements of the StreetGames delivery chain and in each step which organisation and/or individual is responsible for Safeguarding within the activity. Contained within the Safeguarding policy is the work on extremism and radicalisation.
Designated Safeguarding roles within StreetGames
StreetGames will ensure Safeguarding is led in the organisation by the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO). This individual will take a lead in relation to safeguarding/child protection issues, with StreetGames and its delivery chain.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
From 2012 the Disclosure and Barring Service system was introduced as the process by which staff and volunteers are deemed appropriate and safe to work with children and young people.
Staff and Volunteer – Safer Recruitment Policy
StreetGames will ensure all reasonable steps are taken to prevent unsuitable people from gaining access to and working with children and young people through its comprehensive recruitment and selection procedures.
StreetGames Code of Conduct
StreetGames staff, public-facing contractors and volunteers involved in sport and activity for children and young people have a great opportunity to be positive role models and to help build an individual’s confidence.
Responding to and reporting a concern
This section of the StreetGames Policy relates to all of StreetGames work with children and young people. To ensure StreetGames maintains a child and young person centred approach where there is cause for concern the procedure for reporting will always follow the same process.
Prevent Duty Strategy
As outlined in Section 6 of the Safeguarding Policy we see our work in relation to extremism, extremist views and radicalisation as closely related to StreetGames approach to Safeguarding and our support to the StreetGames network.
Lone Working Policy
This policy should be read in conjunction with StreetGames’ Health & Safety and Lone Working Policies
Safeguarding Report Form
Please Note – this form is only to be used if staff /volunteers are unable to access the tootoot reporting system
Social Media and Safeguarding
StreetGames embraces the use of social and digital media. We manage a number of Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, YouTube channels, Instagram. We also use various online platforms to spread the message of doorstep sport for young people living in the UK’s most deprived communities.
StreetGames Photography and Filming Statement
This document has been produced for StreetGames by using the NSPCC template for a photography and filming policy statement. This document is to be used alongside StreetGames Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and aligns to a number of the key safeguarding appendix documents. Fundamentally it has been produced for StreetGames to ensure the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults is at the heart of our work.
StreetGames and its use of communications, media and publicity
StreetGames wants to be able to communicate and share the work that is done across the whole charity to help raise the profile of its work, share stories and demonstrate the impact of what we do. To do this we use case studies, news stories, photographs and videos from a range of activities including:
- Doorstep sport sessions and activities
- StreetGames events and festivals
- Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes
- Youth Leadership and Social Action programmes
- Residentials and Summer Camps
- Trips and visits to live sporting events
Across all of these, we may be telling the story of a young person and using images and videos of them taking part in Doorstep Sport. StreetGames therefore has in place a Filming and Photography Policy that has been created to:
- protect children and young people who take part in StreetGames’ services, events and activities, specifically those where photographs and videos may be taken;
- set out the overarching principles that guide our approach to photographs/videos being taken of children and young people during our events and activities;
- ensure that we operate in line with our values and within the law when creating, using and sharing images of children and young people.
More on Safeguarding
Safeguarding: For Young People and Parents
We want to ensure that all children, young people, parents or guardians can contact us to raise any safeguarding concerns or issues they have. We also work with a range of national youth and safeguarding organisations that have resources available to help children, young people and their parents or guardians deal with safeguarding or wellbeing issues.
Safeguarding
StreetGames operates with a child and young person-centred approach. We are committed to delivering our activities and programmes with the welfare and safety of all children and young people at their heart.
