The SERVES programme is the LTA’s leading sport for development programme. Aimed at children and young people aged 4-18, SERVES takes tennis into the heart of local communities – to those who may never have had the opportunity to play before, or who didn’t think the sport was for them. The focus of the programme is on having fun with friends and keeping mentally and physically fit, whilst at the same time learning new skills to take beyond the tennis court. Using the power of tennis, the aim is help more children and young people build their self-confidence and develop their knowledge around health and wellbeing, and to support community cohesion.
StreetGames have been working in partnership with the LTA on the SERVES programme since 2016, opening up opportunities for young people from underserved communities to play tennis. In this time we have engaged over 350 venues across England and Wales and given them the opportunity to add tennis to their existing Doorstep sport offer to their local communities, many of whom have no prior experience in delivering tennis as part of their offer.
No court? No problem! The SERVES programme has been designed to allow tennis sessions to be delivered in a wide range of settings – from community centres and youth clubs to faith venues and more.
