The StreetGames Annual Review 2024

In our 2024 Annual Review, we highlight our commitment to making sports and physical activity accessible for young people in low-income, underserved communities across the UK.

Through our Doorstep Sport approach, we continue to offer free or low-cost sport and physical activity that support physical health, social skills, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging. We continue to offer our network of over 1,600 locally trusted organisations, funding, training, and resources, empowering these organisations to offer regular, accessible sports sessions to young people.

Our ten-year vision, “Active for Today and Tomorrow,” is dedicated to creating lasting change by building pathways for young people to engage in sports, volunteer, and develop leadership skills. Partnerships with major sports bodies like Sport England and initiatives such as the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme have helped us reach even more young people, especially during school holidays when structured activities are scarce.

Other key programmes include Fit & Fed, which tackles food poverty and inactivity during school holidays, and #NextGen, a programme that builds young leaders through mentoring and volunteering. We work closely with police and community safety groups to use sport as a tool for crime prevention, expanding programmes in areas with high youth violence.

Finally, we’re strengthening relationships with mainstream sports providers, encouraging them to adapt their practices for underserved communities. Programmes like the SERVES tennis initiative and the Birmingham Community Paddle Sport Project showcase successful partnerships that bring diverse sports experiences to young people.
