Girls and young women constitute between 20-30% of young people involved in offending and serious youth violence as victims and/or perpetrators which has resulted in limited research and insight as more emphasis has historically been placed on boys and young men. Moreover, there is limited insight or evidence specifically about girls and young women’s involvement in interventions as a form of prevention, early intervention or diversion including in community sport in this context.
This research was commissioned in Autumn 2020 by the West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit to explore this knowledge gap in order to inform future practice.
