StreetGames’ commitment to supporting students to ‘Go Further’ & ‘Go Higher’ as part of their Sports Development Career Pathway.

Student satisfaction, wellbeing and personal development are more important than ever for learners at College and University. Students are looking for an exceptional Further and Higher Education experience that provides high-quality tuition and a pathway for broader personal development.
StreetGames’ award-winning suite of innovative personal development training can help to level up your student offer, boosting retention and enhancing wellbeing and personal development for participants.
Our industry-recognised training can be tailored to suit the individual needs of institutions and departments. It equips participants with the skills and knowledge they need to:
– better understand their audience
– design creative solutions
– measure their impact
These ‘training interventions’ can help students and staff from Further and Higher Education establishments to increase the social impact of their work – both at the grassroots level on campus and in order to build social capacity and a positive footprint amongst YOUR College or University’s wider community.
Personal development with social value
StreetGames was founded to harness the power of sport to create positive change in the lives of young people living in underserved communities right across the UK. Our focus is on activating young people in the hardest-to-reach areas and our training reflects that aim – developing the leadership and communication skills required to engage difficult audiences.
Our highly respected training programme is continually honed and improved – making it the ideal choice for coaches, volunteers and learners with varying expectations and needs. Providing learning opportunities that are as active as they are interactive has been central to StreetGames’ success and to the continued success of our learners.
Our training has been created to have the widest possible application, but most of all our training interventions are rooted in our organisation’s social values and delivered in a way that is true to StreetGames’ mission: to change lives through sport. StreetGames prides itself both on developing innovative training techniques and on sharing this expertise with others.
Innovative practical & experimental learning for Further Education students and staff
StreetGames recognise the challenge that FE establishments have in enabling College students to secure the number of practical sports coaching hours as part of their core studies. Our varied offer of Activator workshops from a number of different sports are the perfect way to enable College students to enhance their coaching practice while undertaking practical learning hours in sports they might not have previously considered.
Our Activator Workshops
All workshops are three hours in duration and are delivered face-to-face by a StreetGames tutor. The price for each Activator Workshop is £600.
Our work with StreetGames this year has had an extremely positive impact on our learners' employability, the sessions are highly practical and develop delivery skills in a wide range of sports. It has been brilliant to see young coaches work with a range of tutors who have shared their extensive knowledge and expertise, the sessions have built on the coaching unit within the Level 3 Sport Coaching and Development qualification which has enhanced their wider personal and career development.”
StreetGames have delivered a range of qualifications designed to meet the needs of our students and complement their course of study. Their courses have a focus on inclusion and physical and mental wellbeing. Our students gain knowledge of safe, ethical coaching and improve their communication and effective working relationships with participants and others. StreetGames enable students at Barnsley College to adapt their coaching to meet the needs, abilities, and stages of development in a fun, funky and fresh learning environment. A pleasure to work with – accommodating and adaptable.”
The Multi Skills Activator course was extremely impactful for our students! The course was fun, engaging and very supportive. It was perfect for our students as it directly linked in with their modules, and it was great to see students using the skills/knowledge they gained during the course to complete practical assessments. Will definitely book again next year for future students!”
Doorstep Sport Explained
All of StreetGames’ work—from training courses to sports delivery—is rooted in and informed by our tried and tested Doorstep Sport methodology.
Doorstep Sport is an innovative sporting offer developed to address many of the traditional barriers to activity amongst young people living in poverty.
Doorstep Sport projects are fun, informal sports clubs that operate at the right time, in the right place, for the right price and in the right style. Together, they provide an exciting and varied sports offer to young people living in low-income, underserved communities, improving motivation and encouraging them to develop long-term sporting habits.
We carry this ethos into many of our coaching systems to give our trainees the skills they need to activate even the hardest to reach communities, from day one.

This accredited qualification is a fantastic way for young volunteers to take the next step toward becoming a young community leader, particularly working in disadvantaged communities. Young people will develop an understanding of working in communities, partnership working and their role as activity leaders among numerous other topics. Young people will also plan a community-based event as the final module, which in many areas has been turned into a funded project led by young people.
Our Training in Action

StreetGames has been delighted to be able to collaborate with both the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University to train student volunteers on inclusive coaching best practices when undertaking outreach community work off-campus. Students from both Universities within the city of Nottingham participated in engaging Women & Girls in Sport and Physical Activity workshops to offer external support and validation for an academic year’s worth of innovative activity.

Over the course of the summer and into the 2022/2023 academic year, we have delivered a number of training workshops to Loughborough College. These have ranged from theory based workshops such as Managing Challenging Behaviour and Engaging Women and Girls in Sport & Physical Activity, to practical activators like our Multi Skills Activator and Dodgeball Activators, pictured.

At the start of the 2022/2023 academic year, as part of induction week, we delivered our popular Multi Skills Activator to around 70 students at St Mary’s University. This workshop provided the students with the chance to experience fundamental sports skills across a number of different sporting categories, exploring a range of adapted practices and games as well as coaching points, adaptations and questions for understanding.

In September 2022, we delivered our Boxing4Fitness workshop to studio instructors at Liverpool John Moores University. This workshop, delivered by StreetGames in partnership with England Boxing, provided participants with the skills needed to deliver non-contact boxing for fitness sessions at LJMU.
I’m really proud to see the positive impact our students have had on our community programmes this year, due to the professional and well-presented training StreetGames provided. Developing a community-focussed ethic within our students is really important for all of our programmes and providing interactive training that gives them the opportunity to understand some of the issues that influence young people’s lives is invaluable to us.”
