Activators

Activator Workshops provide community sport and youth workers with the skills to introduce new activities to the groups that they work with. These workshops provide an informal introduction to a new sport or activity and enable learners to facilitate activities within a Doorstep Sport or community setting.

These workshops enable learners to lead modified versions of the sport or activity in a variety of settings, and with minimal equipment. There is a focus on fun and adaptation, rather than technical ability. Drawing on the principles of teaching games for understanding, they provide numerous activities to enable interaction with young people and understand their motivations.

Developed in partnership with National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) these workshops:

  • Support young volunteers’ journey into sports leadership & coaching
  • Provide new games & challenges to keep experienced youth, sport & community workers’ offer fresh
  • Prepare Further & Higher Education students for work in community settings

If you are looking for a specific sport or activity, and that sport does not have an Activator course listed below then please feel free to get in touch to let us know at training.academy@streetgames.org

Likewise, if you represent or work with an NGB who might be interested in developing your own Sports Activator we would be keen to hear from you!
